This article addresses historical analogies which draw a parallel between Europe prior to WWI in 1914 and relations between the West and powers such as China or Russia in 2014 to determine the possibility of another 'great war'. In general, the author contends that there is not much to such analogies due to the point that as long as the US remains the keeper of global order, the threat of force by the likes of Moscow or Beijing is likely to be self-defeating.
