Arthur Rüegg was Full Professor of Architecture and Construction at the Department of Architecture at ETH Zurich, beginning in August 1991. He retired end of Junly 2007.



Prof. Rüegg was born on March 18, 1942 and is a citizen of Wetzikon and Aarburg. He studied at the ETH Zurich in the Department of Architecture. Subsequently he was active as an architect in Zurich, Paris and Boston. Since 1971 he has directed the architectural offices of Arcoop together with Ueli Marbach. Following his professional experience focusing on urban renewal and after five and a half years as assistant to Prof. Dolf Schnebli, he was a visiting professor at Syracuse University in 1979, and from 1984-1988 guest professor in the Department of Architecture at the ETH Zurich. He then set up an introductory course in design at the Department of Civil Engineering (until 1991).



Emphases of Prof. Rüegg's research were problems of construction, equipping and coloring classic modern and contemporary architecture. As an author of primarily monographic works, he has recently edited Corbusier's Polychronic architecturale (1931/1959), with an inventory of the interior decoration and furniture of this architect.
