Special opening times and operating hours apply at ETH Zurich around the holidays.
Reduced services
All ETH buildings will be closed from Tuesday 24 December 2024 at 12 noon until Thursday 2 January 2025.
At the turn of the year, all customer counters will be closed – and will not respond to telephone calls or emails. You can still enter the buildings using your key or ETH card.
Help to save energy at ETH over Christmas:
- switch off electronic devices
- turn thermostats to level 1
- turn off taps and close windows

What is the procedure for special incidents or emergencies?
For incidents concerning persons, buildings and infrastructure, the ETH Emergency Desk is at your service over the holiday period.

Availability of services
The contact points of the Academic Services will be closed from Monday, 23 December 2024 up to and including 3 January 2025.

Sport Center Polyterrasse
- 24.12.2024 individual training (no lessons) until 11.45 a.m.; closed from 12:00 noon.
- 25.12.2024 to 02.01.2025, sports center and info desk closed.
Sport Center Irchel
- 24.12.2024 individual training (no lessons) until 11.45 a.m.; closed from 12:00 noon. 25.12.2024 closed.
- 26. to 30.12.2024, 9 a.m. to 5.45 p.m. individual training and Christmas special as per schedule; closed from 6 p.m.

Sport Center Hönggerberg

Other ASVZ Sport Center
All other sports centres are closed over the holiday period. ASVZ offers external page videos for home workouts.
From 3 January 2025, all sports facilities will be open again during regular opening hours.
The ETH Library, special libraries, collections, and archives will be closed from noon on 24.12.2024 up to and including 02.01.2025.

The ETH cash desks are open as follows:
- Main Building cash desk, HG F 67.1, , closed from 24.12.2024 up to and including 02.01.2025.
- Hönggerberg cash desk, Campus Info HIL D 26.5, , closed from 24.12.2024, 11.45 a.m. up to and including 02.01.2025.
The ETH shuttle bus eLink will operate normally until noon on 24 December 2024. Last journey from ETH Hönggerberg at 12:14, or last journey from ETH Centre at 12:00. After that, the service will be suspended until 2 January 2025. The regular eLink timetable will apply again from Wednesday, 3 January 2025.
The services of the IT Services Service Desk will not be available from 24.12.2024 up to and including 02.01.2025. Please note that the desk in the ETH main building will close on 20.12.2024 and reopen on 06.01.2025.

ETH Zurich Tours
- No guided tours will be offered and conducted from 21.12.2024 to 06.01.2025.
Campus Info
- Central contact points for information and services as well as any questions about ETH Zurich.
- Campus Info at Zentrum and Hönggerberg and the information service by telephone are available until noon on 24.12.2024. They will be closed from midday on 24.12.2024 up to and including 02.01.2025.
Print Services and PLOD
- Opening hours for PLOD stations are 24/7. Support Sign & Print closed from 23.12.2024, 5 p.m. up to 03.01.2025, 8 a.m.

Post
- ETH internal mail for delivery by Logistics by the morning of 24.12.2024 must be dropped off at the postal delivery points by the evening of 20.12.2024.
- From 24.12.2024 noon up to and including 02.01.2025, there will be no mail collection or delivery. The normal postal service will restart on 03.01.2025.
- A-Post and PostPac Priority items handed in at Campus Info by 20.12.2024 will be delivered throughout Switzerland in time for Christmas. For deadlines for items destined for Europe, please follow this link: external page Christmas mailing deadlines | Swiss Post. Last collection from the postboxes at Campus Info HIL and HG is on 24.12.2024: 11 a.m.
- You can find the opening times of the various ETH Zurich gastronomy outlets on the website.
- You can find the special opening times for other services, such as the Coop at Hönggerberg, on the website of the respective company.
Contact points for the Facility Services department – general information, lost property office, key management.
All Info + Service Centres (ISC) will be open until noon on 24.12.2024. After that, the counters will be closed up to and including 02.01.2025.
From 23.12.2024 to 03.01.2025, techpool will not process any requests. Please submit orders to be scheduled this year in good time.
Maintenance of buildings, facilities and outdoor areas
- The Emergency Desk is staffed 24 hours a day throughout the holiday period.
- Dial +41 44 342 11 88 for external and mobile phone calls, or 888 for internal calls.
The ETH card (electronic identity card) allows access to the student workstations and offices in many of the ETH buildings. You can find more information about this at 24-hour access to student working places. Buildings without an electronic door system may be accessed with a key as usual.
The Hönggerberg underground car parks are accessible throughout the holiday period. In an emergency, please contact the Emergency Desk on +41 44 342 11 88 or 888 (internal calls).
A full winter service will be carried out for the roads on ETH premises, but only limited snow clearing and gritting for footpaths between 24.12.2024 bis 02.01.2025. Deliveries to buildings, including the associated ramps and building entrances, are not cleared.
Winter services for the student housing buildings HWW and WHO at the Hönggerberg site are provided by the property management directly.
