This briefing paper presents the results of a 2005 survey conducted in Malawi about political opinions and attitudes. It looks at levels of interest in public affairs, voting participation, and citizens' political participation between elections. The authors conclude that Malawians do not participate at high levels in political affairs because they do not see that there are opportunities available for them to do so.
