Regenerative medicine aims to restore the function of diseased or damaged tissues or organs by a variety of approaches, from cell-based therapies through tissue engineering to developing new medical devices. This offers potential medical benefits, but also poses regulatory challenges. This paper looks at recent developments in this area and analyzes the issues they pose for UK researchers and regulators.
