This report, based on the outcomes of a consultation that Oxford Research Group and the Institute for Security Studies held in South Africa in December 2008, explores the implications of the sustainable security framework for sub-Saharan Africa. It provides a working definition of sustainable security, lists the drivers of insecurity in the region and identifies strategic and operational challenges.
