This research report analyzes media coverage of the candidates in the 2008 US presidential elections. The authors claim that in the US, fundraising by the candidates is not only an important predictor of media presence; it is also an important coverage subject. They study three US news networks that reported on the topic of fundraising more than on any policy issue other than Iraq.
