This article analyzes the media coverage of corruption and white collar crime in the German and US media between 2001 and 2003. The report concludes that aside from some high-profile corruption cases and the subsequent prosecutions in court, the subject matter receives very little media attention. The report is particularly critical of the portrayed image of corruption as only rarely a transnational phenomenon. It also notes that the causes and consequences of corruption, particularly in developing countries, are being ignored in German and US media.
