This paper provides recommendations for a new biofuel policy in the US. According to the author, this new policy should include reduction of restraints on trade to encourage increased imports of sustainably produced biofuels, and revision of the biofuel mandate to further encourage cellulosic production and cap production of corn ethanol. Moreover, the author recommends increasing production of other sustainably produced biofuels and renewable energy sources, and linking international efforts to develop sustainability standards for biofuels.
