This issue of the Canadian Military Journal focuses on 1) the interaction between military and academic culture within Canada’s military colleges; 2) existing models of command doctrine in the Canadian Armed forces and the provision of a new model that addresses the holistic nature of command; 3) how to improve Canadian search and rescue policy and strategy; 4) why the Canadian Department of National Defence (DND) is highly susceptible to military procurement failures; and 5) an examination of the reemergence of the Taliban in Afghanistan and Pakistan through the prism of Shabqadar, a Pashtun-dominated town in western Pakistan. The edition also includes two opinion pieces, a commentary and three book reviews.
