This issue opens with an assessment of the relationships between inequality, trade and capital flows in China. Next, it analyzes the authenticity of China-Russia political and security cooperation by way of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO); looks at Taiwan’s policy toward religion; examines the use of nationalist, party-state propaganda in Chinese advertising; and analyzes Beijing's response to the unemployment crisis precipitated by the 2008 global economic recession. The issue also examines China's perception of Russian foreign policymaking during the Putin administration.
