This journal focuses on developments in China under President Hu Jintao’s first mandate in power, between the 16th and 17th Party Congress (2002-2007). It explores, among others, the recruitment policies for the next generation of Chinese Communist Party (CCP) elites, the modalities of China's foreign and security policymaking and diminishing tensions and emerging pragmatism in cross Strait relations. It also looks at the reconciliation of China's climate and energy security imperatives and surveys the development of China's climate change policy.
