This paper explores climate change mitigation policies and measures enacted, or under consideration, in selected Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) member states and discusses their potential implications for trade and development in developing countries. It focuses on Australia, Canada, the EU, Japan and the US, and on the five key issues of border measures, renewable fuels, standards and labels, fiscal stimulus packages and Kyoto Protocol mechanisms. The authors note that the prospect for a deal on climate change that prioritizes the trade and development concerns of developing countries is remote.
