This paper examines the scope of different carbon emission reduction strategies and technologies in the residential and commercial building sector of developing countries. It discusses the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) Fourth Assessment Report and policies to promote greenhouse gas mitigation in buildings. The authors highlight the key mitigation technologies commercially available in developing countries, and note that smoother technology transfer regimes are required to promote greater technology diffusion.
