This paper gives an overview of climate-mitigation technologies and goods within the renewable energy sector, linking them to possibilities for development. The author discusses the potential of solar, wind, ocean, geothermal, biomass and photovoltaic power and the stages of commercialization of various critical technologies within each field. He presents a summary of the key findings of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) Working Group III Report, as well as descriptions of goods and technologies likely to be deployed in the next five to 10 years.
