Global hunger is not just about the availability of food, it is also about accessibility – the ability to purchase or obtain food. Dealing with global food security challenges will hinge upon a country’s ability to produce or purchase staple foods at affordable prices. Growth in agricultural productivity, already lagging globally, faces increasing threats from climate change, scarce water supplies, and competition for energy resources from industry and urbanization.
