As the Arab powers become increasingly weak, Iran amplifies its anti-Western rhetoric, particularly regarding Zionism. This paper argues that supporting the political turmoil in the Arab world has allowed Iran to unobtrusively serve its own interests. However, Iran is competing with Turkey to take charge of the changes occurring in the Muslim world more broadly. Despite differing approaches, the author concludes, both Turkey and Iran share the same goal: to foster anti-Israeli sentiment.
