This paper gives an overview on the current status of Rules of Origin for the least developed countries (LDCs). Rules of Origin confer an economic nationality on products in international trade and are a necessary and integral part of preferential trade regimes. They define how much processing must take place locally before goods and materials are considered to be the product of the exporting country.
