Using Nigeria as a case study, this paper identifies some key issues and recommendations for effective design and delivery of intellectual property (IP) training and education from a development perspective. The paper points to possible lessons learned by looking at best practices in development-oriented IP courses, which include making curricular and organizational materials transparent, relying on open access learning materials whenever possible, reflecting a diverse range of views about challenging issues and empowering students to think critically and independently.
