The article compares the issue coverage of German, British, American, Arab, and SOuth African news channels; that is, how much time they devote to foreign news, domestic news, culture, sports, etc. It appears that countries of the periphery are establishing their own focus of (regional) coverage that is no longer based on that of traditional news dominating countries; at the same time, Western media seem to continue their coverage ‘the traditional way’, focusing on their interests and areas of concern.
