The role media play in presidential elections has intrigued researchers for a long time. This paper reports findings from the latest in a series of statewide surveys the authors have conducted during the past five US presidential campaigns beginning in 1988. According to the authors, Democrats, males and more highly educated people were most knowledgeable about candidate issue positions.
