The article compares the tone (positive or negative) of election coverage in European media to Arab coverage before and European coverage after the Iraq 2005 elections. The article finds that European media were mainly negative about the legitimacy of the elections, whereas the Arab media were positive. After the elections, European media were however generally positive about the legitimacy of the elections. The article traces these differences back to the relative amount of Iraqi sources cited.
