This paper discusses the subject of open innovation and the GreenXchange (GX) initiative. The GX, a web-based marketplace for intellectual property (IP), was founded on the “belief that the best way to stimulate sustainable innovation is through open innovation”. Two years after its launch, it seems that the GX has not lived up entirely to its original expectations and the paper provides some answers on the lessons to be drawn.
