This publication discusses the work of the Intergovernmental Committee on Intellectual Property, Genetic Resources, Traditional Knowledge and Folklore (IGC). The relationship of genetic resources and traditional knowledge to intellectual property protection has been one of the most complex, controversial yet dynamic issues on the agenda of multilateral deliberations in the areas of biodiversity, trade and intellectual property during the past decade.
