This paper examines how international trade in environmental goods and services (EGS) may help to achieve "green economy". It explores options for providing trade preferences for EGS and climate-related goods and services (CGS), including the WTO initiative of reducing or eliminating tariff and non-tariff barriers to trade in EGS. The author outlines how trade preferences for EGS/CGS should be designed so that they could become a driver for development.
