The study investigates the political crisis in the Maldives in early 2012 following the ouster of President Mohammed Nasheed. The author provides an overview of the democratic transition process in the island nation, underlying paradigms and peculiarities of Nasheed's electoral victory, especially his mode of propagation and his political innovation efforts.
