The paper explores challenges that developing countries face in trying to resolve conflicts outside the formal WTO system. At the domestic level, the authors recommend that capacity building is crucial and needs to be supported by institutional structures which allow proper administration of trade agreements. Internationally, they suggest developing countries need to increase their activity within the WTO. They also think that alternative dispute resolution should be taken more seriously by developing countries and should be given a formal place in preferential trade agreements.
