This brief examines economic policy in Japan during the time of Prime Minister Shinzo Abe. It gives special emphasis to the three key strategies of 'Abenomics', risks associated to them, and implications for the US. It says that Abenomics is the latest attempt to change Japan's fortunes after nearly 20 years of sluggish economic growth. The author argues that the US has good reasons to hope that it will succeed, both for economic and strategic reasons.
