This paper analyses the success of the 2012 elections in Ghana. More specifically, it examines the concrete contribution of the West Africa Network for Peacebuilding (WANEP) during different phases of the elections and outlines the opportunities and remaining challenges for Ghana. The authors conclude that despite encouraging signs, there is a need to continue the campaign for peace and, in particular, to invest in alternative dispute resolution mechanisms in order to build trust and foster relationships in the country.
