This paper argues that ‘sustainable energy services’ should be a key component of Sustainable Energy Trade Initiatives and Agreements (SETIs/SETAs). For the latter to work, however, people need to understand the benefits these services would provide, which ones would be initially available, and what commitments WTO members have made to the SETIs/SETAs process.
