This paper examines ASEAN's historical and contemporary role in facilitating collaboration between China and the US. The author argues that, although the organization has the basis for creating a proactive diplomacy to drive forward change in Asia-Pacific regionalism, it has not yet developed the needed political courage and coordination to do so.
