This study assesses the effectiveness and impact of aid for trade (AfT) in Bangladesh. It argues that the results of AfT in the country are somewhat mixed. On one hand, AfT has addressed some significant supply side constraints and has helped enhance export competitiveness in a few key sectors. On the other, AfT programs and projects have not been effectively integrated into national policies. The authors say the reasons for this include the country's lack of efficient administrative mechanisms, limited human capacity, political instability, and stringent donor requirements.
