This fact sheet explains the “Kyiv Recommendations”, a set of policy suggestions relating to judicial independence in Eastern Europe, the South Caucasus and Central Asia. More specifically, it looks at: 1) judicial administration, with a focus on judicial councils, judicial self-governing bodies, and the role of court chairs; 2) the judicial selection criteria and training; and 3) the accountability of judges and judicial independence in adjudication.
