This paper looks at the exploration of shale gas. It first provides a primer on shale gas - what it is and how it is used. It then looks at the impact of the exploration, production and trade of shale gas on sustainable development. Finally, it looks at the trade aspects of shale gas. The paper concludes with a number of policy recommendations for stakeholders.
