This volume of the Journal of Power Institutions in Post-Soviet Societies (PIPSS) address issues related to war trauma, veterans and military reform in Russia, the Soviet Union and post-Soviet states. Topics discussed include the Russian state's response to war veterans' psychological suffering; the influence of threat perception on military reforms in Russia; how Eastern European states' incorporation into NATO has affected their military transformation processes; and Russian veterans' experience as victims of violence. It also includes five book reviews and four interviews with war veterans.
