This paper provides an overview of the threat posed to the Nigerian state by the terrorist group Boko Haram. The author also briefly examines the effect which the upcoming elections in 2015 may have on the group’s activities as well as the international response to the criminal acts it has already committed, such as the mass abduction of schoolgirls in Chibok.
