This brief discusses the main global and regional challenges facing Chinese-South Korean relations and the steps the two countries will have to take to address them to build a new regional order in East Asia. These include: 1) overcoming the dichotomy of South Korea-China and South Korea-US relations to develop the two into a more complex and complementary structure; 2) overcoming China-Japan conflicts so that South Korea, China and Japan can establish a common vision toward the future; and 3) acting together to help North Korea become a fair actor in 21st century Asia.
