This brief provides an overview of the political landscape in Nigeria as well as the key factors and actors that could affect the country's 2015 national elections. The authors also examine the political, ethnic and religious cleavages in the country and outline a number of scenarios which describe what could happen both during and after the elections. Finally, they provide recommendations for key stakeholders in Nigeria on how to ensure that the 2015 elections are peaceful, free and fair and how to further the democratic consolidation process in the country.
