This paper explores how Guinea-Bissau undermines regional and global stability by acting as a transshipment point for illegal drugs, primarily from South America into Europe. To reverse this state of affairs, and to protect US interests throughout West Africa, Washington needs to help the national government tackle corruption and codify the rule of law. Ameliorating these problems won't be easy though, especially because of the country's geography, culture, governmental structures, and tainted military.
