This paper assesses the implementation and impact in Uganda of India’s Duty-Free Trade Preference (DFTP) scheme, which provides least developed countries (LDC) a duty-free and quota-free access to the country’s markets. In general, the authors find that export trends in Uganda suggest that the scheme has had a limited impact, if any, in stimulating Ugandan exports to India. They also provide policy recommendations for India and Uganda on how to boost the effectiveness of the DFTP scheme.
