This issue of "Africa Spectrum" focuses on 1) improving water and sanitation services in Burundi; 2) the relationship between drug trafficking and informal security in Kenya; 3) the impact of religion on the secular state model of governance on the continent; 4) the role progressive African intellectuals have played in Africa since the 1960s; and 5) Nigeria's February 2015 general elections.
