This commentary discusses the results of a report published by the organization Global Financial Integrity in Washington on the scale of illicit financial flows in the world from 2003 to 2012. The author contends that the issue of illicit financial outflows is one that is ignored by the Western World and that this has a detrimental effect on the challenges of eradicating poverty and terrorism.
