This paper explores the primary themes of the US strategic pivot to Asia and its implications for South Korea. It also evaluates 1) South Korea’s view of the US pivot; 2) Washington's expectations of Seoul in its new strategy; and 3) South Korea's middle power diplomacy and its compatibility with the US pivot.
