This paper looks at the geopolitical narrative of the terrorist group called the Islamic State (IS). In particular, the author discusses how the IS frames the group’s territorial extension and aspirations. He concludes that it is crucial to understand this narrative in order to develop a counter-narrative that is able to weaken the Islamic State’s seductive appeal for potential recruits.
