With a particular focus on South Korea, this paper discusses what defines a middle power as well as what approaches such powers can adopt to have an impact on the world stage and ensure their interests are served. More specifically, the authors examine 1) what defines a middle power, suggesting it involves acting as a bridge between great powers and being part of networks of countries that can together to pursue their interests; 2) how middle powers can form such networks; and 3) how South Korea can enhance US-China cooperation. They also look at what other countries can learn from South Korea's middle power diplomacy approach.
