This brief looks at some of the key issues that the author believes will be discussed at the June 16, 2015 summit between the presidents of South Korea and the US as well as the position each country holds on these issues. The issues include 1) North Korea’s increasingly threatening nuclear and missile programs; 2) the problems facing South Korea as it deepens its ties with China while also attempting to strengthen its alliance with the US; and 3) the deterioration in South Korea-Japan relations.
