This paper explores how the SYRIZA-ANEL coalition government in Greece, which came to power following the country's January 2015 elections, could affect the country's foreign policy toward the Eastern Mediterranean region. In particular, the authors focus on policy toward 1) the dispute between the Republic of Cyprus and the Turkish-Cypriot controlled north of the island; 2) Greece’s bilateral relations with Turkey; and 3) energy developments in the region. In general, they contend that the first initiatives of the coalition show a consistency with previous policy, as opposed to becoming more nationalistic as a result of ANEL's role in the government.
