This paper discusses the upcoming June 2015 elections in Turkey and the implications the results could have for the country's governance and constitution. In particular, it provides an overview of the 2014-2015 political climate in Turkey and points out President Erdoğan's ambition, should his party win, to amend the Turkish constitution in order to grant himself exceptional powers and “build a New Turkey”. The author argues that such a scenario could widen the already-existing political and social divisions in Turkey.
