This paper reviews the political and economic problems facing Moldova in mid-2015. It warns that the greatest danger facing the country today is the disillusionment Moldovans feel towards the pro-Western coalition that came into power in July 2009 and has been dogged by political scandals and allegations of corruption ever since. As a result of these problems, the public is now split in its support for pro-European and pro-Russian political parties. For those who want the Moldovan people to tilt back towards Europe and the West, the next steps are obvious. The country needs to pursue judicial reform and greater transparency, battle corruption, and improve its business investment climate.
