This issue includes articles on media communication in China as well as the practices used by the country's government to maintain political and social control. More specifically, the articles explore 1) the relationship between China’s media practices and the government's efforts to maintain stability; 2) how the Chinese government responds to public opinion on the Internet; 3) how local officials in have used Twitter-like micro blogging sites to improve their ability control information; and 4) the state’s attempts to manipulate public discourse by paying people to support the state's position in online forums. It also contains a research article on bank regulation in China.
